While the anticipation of the upcoming World Cup hits a fevered pitch, the corporate fraternity is gearing up for its very own much awaited business event of the year - the 2006 World Entrepreneur of The Year® Award. Vikas Goel, Chairman and Managing Director of eSys Technologies, who was named Singapore's Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year ® for 2005, will carry the country's flag to Monte Carlo, Monaco where he will contend with 35 other winners from 32 countries from around the globe for the much coveted title.

Vikas Goel jumps on the bandwagon of former winners from Singapore like, Wong Ngit Liong, Ron Sim and Tay Liam Wee. As Singapore's representative, he will be inducted into the World Entrepreneur of The Year® Academy with 35 other winners including Jacques Dirickx of DIRICKX Groupe (France), Kumar Mangalam Birla of
Aditya Birla Group (India), Andrey Martirosov of UTair Aviation (Russia), Bill Lynch of Imperial Holdings (South Africa) and Arthur Blank of The Home Depot (USA).

All 35 participants will be judged in six key areas such as entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, financial performance, strategic direction, global impact and personal integrity and influence. Heading the international panel of nine judges for this year's World Entrepreneur of The Year® Award is Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman and Group Managing Director of Bharti Enterprises from India. Other judges include former national 2004 Entrepreneur Of The Year country winners such as Heinz Aeschlimann (Switzerland), Phillip Mills (New Zealand), and Tay Liam Wee (Singapore).
